What is DEET or other insect repellents? Are they bad for me and my family?Updated 2 years ago
DEET, Picaridin, and IR353513 are known chemical insect repellents. They certainly can wipe out insects, but it has been found that they may be harmful. Chemical repellents like these are believed to have some degree of varying toxicity. DEET has been reported to cause skin irritation, rashes, burning or numbness in the lips, dizziness, nausea, difficulty concentrating, headaches, and even seizures.
This has led to more people choosing safer alternatives such as essential oils, which have been proven to be incredibly effective in insect repellents and biopesticides.
