• Only female mosquitoes bite people and animals to get a blood meal. Female mosquitoes need a blood meal to produce eggs.
• The exact insect repellency mechanism in products that work by affecting the olfactory sensitivity of arthropods is still largely unknown. However, research suggests that DEET, botanical extract-based formulations, and the like work by modulating an insect’s odor-sensing ability.
