Is lemongrass oil really effective in repelling mosquitoes and other insects?Updated 2 years ago
- Yes, absolutely. One study involved the extraction of lemongrass oil and tested it topically on human subjects to find out how mosquitoes react. The conclusion showed that lemongrass oil successfully repelled mosquitoes away from human skin for up to 3 hours upon application. There are plenty of studies to show that lemongrass essential oil is effective in repelling other insect species as well.
- It is claimed that lemongrass scent masks the scent of humans that naturally draw mosquitoes to come near and land into our skin. Because of this, these insects no longer sense that their food can be found in our bodies.
