How to use Sticky Bug Stakes?Updated 2 years ago
How To Use
- Unwrap your Sticky Stakes from the film.
- Carefully remove the protective film from your stake without touching the adhesive.
- Insert the bottom “V” part of the trap into the soil of your plants or of your garden beds.
- Ensure the stake is standing straight up and the face is unobstructed.
- If using in potted plants, shake the plant gently to dislodge insects
- Once the Sticky Stakes is filled with captured insects, simply toss into the waste bin. Then replace your Sticky Stakes once they are full, or every 2-3 months!
Caution
Keep out of reach of small children and pets. If the glue accidentally gets on the skin, simply rub off with vegetable oil and wash with soap and water.
Ingredient Information
Components of the adhesive layer:
- Polyisobutene (PIB) — a polymeric hydrocarbon commonly used in personal care and viscoelastic products to enhance the thickness of liquid ingredients like oil. It is a versatile “binder, film former, and nonaqueous viscosity-increasing agent”1 generally considered safe even for cosmetic application, where “polyisobutene dries to form a thin coating on the skin, hair or nails, and is used to hold together the ingredients of a compressed cake.”2 Polyisobutene “is the same material as chewing gum”3 and has “no known significant effects or critical hazards” based on this4 safety data sheet on the same material.
Antioxidant — an ingredient added to the main adhesive component to delay material degradation once the adhesive is exposed to elements in the air, UV, and temperature changes.5
